MAYA HIEROGLYPHIC WRITING:

Foundational Level

In this 6-week long virtual course, you will form a solid foundation of the Maya hieroglyphic writing system.


You'll learn to calculate dates in the Maya calendar and read glyphs from Maya murals and ceramics.

This class meets once per week, starting on Monday, June 13th, at 3pm Eastern time. The class runs for 6 weeks, ending on July 18th.

Enrollment fees are to be paid via Paypal, and are $50 USD per person. 


About the Professor



Catherine is currently pursuing a PhD in ancient Maya art and writing at Tulane University. She holds a Master's degree in Mesoamerican Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and has travelled to over 30 Mesoamerican sites and a dozen museums. She has lived in Mexico and Panama and traveled through Guatemala and Honduras. She speaks fluent EnglishSpanish, and Dulegaya (an indigenous dialect of Panama), and is a constant learner of Mayan and Central Mexican languages


Catherine has a passion for teaching and loves sharing what she learns with others. When she is not learning or teaching, she is probably spending time with her husband and their pets, Oakley and Willow.
